Bang & Olufsen Beocenter 7007 (1983)
The Beocenter 7007 from Bang & Olufsen was the last revision of the iconic Beocenter 7000 (part of the Museum of Modern Art in New York) designed by Jakob Jensen. The Beocenter 7007 is a superb music center (radio, cassette recorder, turntable, amplifier) featuring a further advancement of the Beocenter 7000 both in terms of looks as in electronics as well. A mild restyle involved flusher black keys, a raised aluminium strip across the full front and up-down pushbuttons for volume instead of the slider volume used on the Beocenter 7000. With the introduction of this new electronic volume control now there are additional functions available as well such as: mute, user programmable pre-set volume level for smooth start of the music center and a reset volume setting (this will bring the volume level up or down to the previously set volume level). While the 2x40 W high quality amplifier remained the same now there is an extra Tape 2 in/out connection at the back. Further addition is: a second event timer operation - Timer 2 - (a user-programmable microcomputer which allows you to make unattended recordings at any time within a 24-hour period, or to play and stop any sound source automatically at a pre-selected time), Metal tape capable cassette recorder and a modified tone arm that came standard fitted with the new MMC5 cartridge.
The highlight of the system is however the supreme ease of operation. The whole system has an easy One Touch operation. You just press PHONO on the remote or the unit itself and the system turns on, the turntable is selected on the amplifier, record (vinyl) speed/size are selected and the record begins to play at the pre-set volume level of the unit. If you press ONE button, eg. P1 for a preset radio program, the turntable switches off and the amplifier switches to radio sound. All functions can be accessed with the Beocenter Terminal remote control, including: volume control, mute, radio program selection, tape function control (recording included) and remote-controlled turntable operation. (The remote control operates with a 9V battery). Not only the Beocenter 7007 is extremely easy to operate but inside the large soft-open aluminium cover there are all the operating functions graphically presented. With the addition of a Beovox S55 loudspeaker the system is known as Beosystem 7007. As there is provision for 2 sets of loudspeakers the Beocenter 7007 can be extended, so that you can listen to and operate the Boecenter from another room. For this you will need to setup the second loudspeaker set in the other room and add a small Master Control Link unit that can be operated by an additional Master Control Panel that also features a LCD status display as well. The Beocenter 7007 was the last of this series to be withdrawn and was still being offered in 1987. Dimensions: 72x9,5x39 cm | Weight 16.5 kg | Original sale price 3198 DM.

PHILIPS COMPO SOUND MACHINE D8718 (1983)
This is one of the most complex portable radio cassette recorders ever built, the COMPO SOUND MACHINE D8718 - made by PHILIPS as part of the 1983-84 model range. It has the same configuration as a Hi-Fi system only in a battery or AC operated portable unit.
Here are some highlights usually find on separate Hi-Fi components and (almost) never on a portable unit:
- 3 motor drive, RS servo-controlled cassette recorder
- manual recording level control with separate L and R channel control and LED VU meters
- DNR noise reduction (a PHILIPS type playback only noise reduction system)
- TPSS - Tape Program Search System for up to 3 tracks forward or backward on your cassette
- metal tape compatibility
- input for AUX and PHONO!!! too, to connect a turntable for your favorite vinyl
- removable 2-way loudspeaker system
- separate BASS and TREBLE, LOUDNESS and STEREO SPATIAL for an increased sound space
even with the speakers attached to the unit
- Rec out connectors for any source played through this unit

PHILIPS F 883 (1988)
BIG THING. The main (one box) unit has the following components: FT 883 digital tuner with 19 memory presets, FA 883 2x40 watt amplifier with 2x5 band equalizer and spectrum analyzer, FC 883 soft touch servo controlled double cassette deck with Dolby B. The PF 775 belt drive automatic tangential turntable and the AK 730 5-disc CD player are not part of the original setup, but the whole system can be operated with one infrared remote control. Look at picture #4 to see how to connect speakers if you are using only one pair. This procedure applies to many PHILIPS components. You have the explanation in the instruction manual, but if you don't have the manual, it is difficult to discover how to connect only one pair of speakers. Overall, I consider this a good sounding midi system.
SABA MINIPACK C2000 (1981)
This is a TOP Quality miniPACK audio system. Analog tuner with preset station memory, Metal tape capable cassette recorder and manual recording level with settings and display for left and right channel and a 35 W/chanel @8-ohm amplifier section. This unit was sold in France as THOMSON MINI CHAINE 35W MT 35T. In fact, THOMSON was the parent company of SABA so the SABA is only a rebadged unit manufactured probably somewhere in far east. Regardless of these the system has a surprisingly good sound, the secret being a quality loudspeaker set.
